Our Founder
Cherine Scandar was born in Cairo, Egypt on 10/10/1957 to his Egyptian Father Dr. Maher Scandar and Italian Mother Medea Theresa Gianone. He received his secondary education from Jésuites, then graduated from Cairo University with a Bachelor of Engineering in Architecture in 1981.
Cherine joined his father’s pharmaceutical company, SoficoPharm then went on to establish his own firms namely COMET for Engineering and Trading, Sodeco Specialties, Sodeco International and Sodeco Construction. He also established affiliates to Sodeco Specialties and Comet in Libya. SoficoPharm is a pioneer in the pharmaceutical industry, an agent and distributor for global pharmaceutical and cosmetic firms such as Allergan, Bayer, Schering, Abbott, Janssen, Henkel and till this day is one of the largest pharmaceutical and cosmetics distributors in Egypt.
Cherine is Chairman of the SCASH Alliance which houses a group of his family-owned companies that employs over 3,000 individuals with more than 25 offices across Egypt, MENA and Africa.
